One advantage of the Online media is it allows you to have
unlimited access. This is an advantage compared to print newspapers because
with a print newspaper the paper could get lost or damaged, making it unusable,
being impossible to replicate as the company would have started on the
newspaper for the next day. Another advantage of the online newspaper (and
probably the biggest) is it is able to publish the most recent stories nearly
straight after they happen. This is an advantage for online `newspapers because
print newspapers need to wait until the next day to release its news and paper
meaning that piece of news is old and out of date. However, this could also be
a disadvantage because it means before the company publish the story, they do
not have time to check the accuracy of it, leaving some stories to be false.
Another advantage of
the online newspaper compared to the print is that it saves time and money for both
the publishers and the readers. This is because you do not have to wait for the
next morning to read the latest breaking news, it would be there instantly. Whereas
with the print newspaper you wouldn’t be able to read the most recent news until
the following day. Another advantage of the online newspaper compared to the print
is, the copy of the news stories is for a lower reading age making it suitable for
young viewers. I believe this is an advantage because the world is moving into
a technological era, this is helpful because young people have never been in a
time when technology didn’t exist, therefore, causing them to be on some form
of gadget or console.
Although online newspapers have a lot of advantages to it, they
do also have some disadvantages making print newspapers better. One disadvantage
of online newspapers is you need internet connection to use it. This is a major
disadvantage because if somebody doesn’t have instant access to the internet
they have no way of reading the newest headlines the online newspapers publish.
Another disadvantage of the online newspaper is you can not physically hold the
news stories, this is a disadvantage because when people pay money for the
newspaper they want to be able to hold it and do things with it such as the sudoku.
This is a disadvantage because some people like to hold it as they have spent their
money and they have not just wasted it. Whereas, if someone has subscribed to an
online newspaper they can only have access to the newest news and do nothing else
with it.
One more disadvantage of the online newspaper is it does not
always appeal with the older generation as they grew up with a time when the
newspaper was only available in a hard copy, meaning they would want this to continue,
with the idea of having the information online unappealing.
